Energy-efficient appliances for the home

A new generation of home appliances can help significantly reduce electricity consumption in the home. Of course, it is inconceivable to immediately replace all existing devices with energy efficient ones, but even the gradual replacement of obsolete or obsolete equipment can help improve the parameters of the energy consumption of the house.

Energy efficient devices

Refrigerators

energy saving refrigerators

The first energy efficient devices we are looking at can save a lot of money by reducing energy use in the home. After all, these devices work day and night, so it's best to choose them carefully. They are refrigerators. The technological innovations of almost all manufacturers are inverter motors. They are very silent and make it possible to regulate the electrical consumption of the device while avoiding peaks in consumption. By keeping the temperature constant and uniform, it has been possible to optimize energy consumption and increase the efficiency of refrigerators.
Several manufacturers have developed a technology with which you can better preserve food by differentiating the ventilation in different compartments. The release of active oxygen in modern models prevents the formation of bacteria. Energy-efficient refrigerators made by the South Korean company in turn use insulation boards more efficiently. They are much thinner than the materials used just a few years ago. This means that modern refrigerators have become more energy efficient. More space for food, but less energy consumption for cooling it. Recently, researchers in the United States ranked refrigerators in the top positions of the energy saving rankings accordingly. These energy saving devices consume the same as a 20W lamp. This was achieved through efficient insulation, gaskets, new variable speed compressors and, again, the shape and position of the evaporator and condenser.

The results of other studies conducted in the United States may convince even the most undecided to change the refrigerator. In 12 years after purchasing a new model, the reduction in energy costs compared to an old device can reach several hundred dollars. The most energy efficient models are those with a freezer at the top of the refrigerator. At the same time, side-by-side refrigerators have the worst energy efficiency indicators.

Dishwasher

From a technological point of view, modern dishwashers consume not only less energy, but also much less water, and the adjustable baskets allow to optimize the loads. German manufacturers also use the properties of natural zeolite, a mineral that absorbs moisture during washing and releases it as a vapor during drying, making the last stage of the cycle faster and more efficient.

Washing machine

Modern washing machines offer differentiated washing cycles to reduce water and detergent consumption. Extensive research has shown that the cleaning process does not depend on the temperature of the water and the detergent used, but is a consequence of the mechanical action of the drum. In this regard, new solutions have appeared, for example, the washing machines developed by the company introduce air bubbles into the drum, which allows the detergent to penetrate the fabrics better and wash well even atcold water.

Induction cookers

Induction hobs are more and more popular, even among the energy efficient appliance lines. They cook food by creating an electromagnetic field that only heats the bottom of the cookware. As a result, there is no loss of energy. You save money, considering that the efficiency of these devices reaches 95%, while in conventional gas stoves there are leaks in the order of 30-60%.

Vacuum cleaners

How to convert watts into useful work of a vacuum cleaner? Not much if the vacuum system is not efficient. The only thing you can tell by looking at the watts listed on the energy label is the energy absorption. But what if all that energy is used inefficiently? New energy-efficient devices offer good guarantees. The vacuum cleaner models with cyclone technology have the advantage of not having a dust bag. The suction power remains unchanged, which benefits the energy efficiency of the device.

Energy efficiency label

After making sure that the devices can help save energy in the house, it remains only to choose the right model. There are many offers out there, and it's not that easy to navigate. The first thing to do is pay attention to the energy efficiency label, which gives a precise idea of the energy consumption.

The horizontal arrows at the top indicate the energy efficiency class, which can range from A +++ (best) to G (worst). The color of the arrows also indicates the degree of energy efficiency of the equipment: from red for the high energy consumption classes to dark green for the most energy efficient devices. The arrows indicate the energy consumption in kWh per year based on laboratory tests, i. e. under optimal conditions. Knowing the cost of electricity, you can easily determine the annual cost of electricity, which obviously also depends on how the device is used.
